Inspiration through art . Scott Trent is a metal sculptor who lives in Dallas, Texas. Commissioned by the Dallas Holocaust Museum and inspired by his friend Ruth, Scott created a series of small sculptures as symbols that represent the pain, suffering and hope and inspires hope, transition and love. In his sculptural interpretation Scott incorporated a butterfly as a symbol of freedom in captivity, love inspite of hate, and the power of the human spirit in times of a tragic world. As an artist creates she seeks a unique perspective that attempts to balance tragedy with hope, and hate beside beauty in an effort to find meaning and reflect reality. The poets' charge is to find meaning in chaos and insights in poverty. A painter uses color or the lack of color to mirror a world with purpose; whether to direct, guide or simply amuse. The sculptor creates forms that inspire. The work of art created by Scott has expanded his vision, informed his thoughts, and touched his heart. As he considered giving the art to his friend, he wondered what other people might add to the narrative of this piece and how far our vision could expand or big our hearts could grow. He wondered what art could do to improve our world simply by connectivity, creation, and collaboration. This curiosity led to the butterfly project.
